Tom believed that business has the responsibility to give back to the community where we live and work, and he embodied that belief. He has helped improve the lives of many Chester County families by supporting many charitable organizations, leading capital campaigns and serving on the board of many service and civic organizations. He has contributed to political organizations and grass roots campaigns and was an advocate for small business and free enterprise.

After majoring in electrical engineering at the University of Florida and serving his country in the United States Navy, Tom returned to Pennsylvania and along with his brother, Dick, founded Tri-M Electrical Contractors.

Early on, Tom bought out his brother and set out to grow his business into one of the leading electrical and building automation contractors in the eastern U.S. After 34 years of expanding his company and achieving his goals, Tom sold Tri M to Encompass Services, Inc. Within a few years, he took the lead in buying his creation back, and served as its Chairman.

Tom lived by “always be thankful, but never be satisfied.” He was thankful for his family, his country, his freedoms, his employees and customers. Tom’s vision, passion and entrepreneurial spirit motivated others to be their best and not be complacent, and forged the growth of Tri-M.

Tom was a true leader, and he led by example. He was a man of integrity, honesty and believed in the value of hard work. He made it a point to learn an employee’s name and family. He welcomed anyone into his office if they had a question or concern. He would work alongside of you, and there was not one job that he considered beneath him.

Tom has held a number of executive positions with the Associated Builders and Contractors, including National Chairman. He was Chairman of the National Federation of Independent Businesses, Vice Chair of the U.S. Naval Institute and on the Department of Defense's Advisory Board for Employer Support of the National Guard and Reserve. Tom has also served on the Chamber of Commerce and many other business and service organizations.

 

Executive Team

James Horn James T. Horn, President and Chief Executive Officer:
Jim started his career as a marine electrician at Sun Ship Building and Dry-Dock Co., where he learned drafting and design during his tenure there. After a brief term with a marine consulting firm, Jim joined Tri-M Electrical Construction as a designer/estimator.

He quickly rose through the ranks by demonstrating a management and leadership style that enabled employees to flourish and exceed the expectations of customers, eventually being named as President of the construction division.

After the sale of Tri M to Encompass, Jim remained as its President/CEO, until founding his own firm, Twin Valley Electrical Construction. When Tom Musser returned, Jim also returned and participated in the repurchase of the company he contributed to growing so successfully. He now serves as President and CEO of the parent company, The Tri M Group, LLC.

Jim has served as President of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors. He is a member of numerous civic organizations, such as Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce, and has contributed his services to a variety of charitable groups and events like the Relay for Life, sponsored by the American Cancer Society.

 

Christopher Pierson Christopher M. Peirson, P.E., C.E.M., Executive Vice President:
Chris began his career with Tri-M in 1989 as an engineering co-op in the Building Automation Systems team. Upon earning his Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Penn State in 1993, he joined Tri-M as a full time assistant project engineer.

He progressed through the engineering department to a senior project engineer providing turn-key engineering for some of the division's largest customers and projects. In 2002 Chris was promoted to Systems Operations Manager where he was responsible for overseeing engineering, project management, installation and commissioning on all BAS projects. Later he was promoted to Vice President of Building Automation Systems, overseeing sales, operations and service for this multi-faceted group which includes Network Services and Security. Meeting the demands of every changing technology, BAS also includes Energy Analytics and Tri-M Connectivity Solutions. In January 2016, Chris became a partner with Tom, Jim, and Ron Bauguess.

 

Ronald Bauguess Ronald E. Bauguess, Executive Vice President:
Ron began his career with Tri-M in the late 1980's as an apprentice electrician; within the next few years he became a journeyman electrician and joined the Medium/High Voltage team. Soon after joining the High Voltage team he was promoted to Foreperson.

Upon the retirement of Dick Musser, Ron assumed the role of Project Manager and then Senior Project Manager of the Medium/High Voltage team. In late 2008 Ron was promoted to General Manager for the entire Electrical Construction team in Kennett Square.

Ron has served as Chairperson of the Eastern PA Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors, and is currently on the Board of Directors for the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry. In January 2016, Ron became a partner with Tom, Jim and Chris Peirson.

 

Paul Langan Paul R. Langan, Vice President of Business Development:
After spending his early years installing reinforcing steel on many projects in the New York area and upon graduating from Rutgers College, Paul started his professional career with the building division of Armstrong World Industries.

He then spent many years in different management capacities with several specialty contracting organizations in the Pennsylvania and New Jersey markets. Prior to joining The Tri-M Group, Paul served the Irex Corporation of Lancaster, PA for fifteen years in a number of executive management positions. Paul is the VP /GM for Tri-M’s North and Central PA operations in Allentown and Lock Haven. He is past Chairman of the Delaware Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors.

 

Matthew Monzo Matthew Monzo, Chief Financial Officer:
After graduating from high school, Matt worked as a carpenter framing houses prior to making the decision to attend college. Matt graduated from Saint Joseph's University with a bachelor's degree in accounting.

He furthered his education by attending Widener University where he earned a master's degree in business administration. Matt also took construction management courses through Drexel University.

Even though Matt's career changed from working in the field to the office, Matt continued his passion for construction. He would work as a laborer on the weekends to learn the trades of finishing concrete and wiring commercial buildings. Matt worked for several construction companies in the capacity of Controller over his twenty five year career prior to joining Tri-M. One company was Allan Myers, where he was the Controller and Senior Manager to their Maryland and Virginia operations which included Delaware and the District of Columbia.

 

Amanda Novak Amanda Novak, PHR, SHRM-CP, Director of Human Resources:
Amanda began her career with Tri-M in 2004 as an intern while obtaining her Bachelor of Science in business management from West Chester University. Upon earning her degree, Amanda joined Tri-M as a full time Human Resources Administrator.

Early on Amanda demonstrated her drive and ability to be a strategic partner and quickly progressed through the Human Resources Department. In August 2015, Amanda was promoted to Human Resources Director, overseeing human resources, training and marketing.

Amanda has served on the Eastern PA ABC Apprenticeship Trust Board.
